Gyob needs help. He is in need of treats, but the only ones he can collect are trapped in several hot rooms that will only get hotter. On top of that, Gyob will also have to deal with a number of critters and other obstacles, making this a challenging task.

This is a submission for Mini Jam #162 that features heat as a theme and requires a button do two separate things in the game (which is why the A button handles both jumping and plugging a fire pot with a plug).

Touch Controls Description
Arrow Keys WASD WASD Directional Pad * Move Gyob around on the map.
* Select options on the menu
Z X J X A BUTTON
* Jump.
* Plug a Fire Pot with a PLUG (if the player has one).
* +DOWN will make Gyob drop down through platforms (except for the very bottom one).
* Confirm option in menu.
X C K O B BUTTON
* Cancel option in menu.
ENTER + START BUTTON
* Access menu.
* Pause game.
SHIFT - SELECT BUTTON
* Cancel some options on the menu.
  • Changes to the keyboard set will not take place until after the player leaves the OPTIONS page.
  • The default setup when playing for the first time is Keyboard Set 1. If this is an issue, the touch screen buttons can be controlled with a mouse to allow a player access to the OPTIONS page and change the setup to one of the WASD options.

Navigate Gyob around the map, jumping up and down between levels and collect snack.

  • BEWARE: Do not collect the Green Mushrooms! Those are deadly and will cost Gyob a life point. Do not waste time as the temperature of the room will go up while the player runs around. If the room sound reach 100 degrees, Gyob will lose a life point.
  • In addition to snacks, the player can also collect Ice Cubes that will lower the temperature of the room and plugs to block fire pots so they cannot fire off fire balls.
  • Watch out for various obstacles: There are Fire Pots that shoot fireballs across the screen and little critters that will roam the map. Contact with any of these will cost Gyob a life point.
  • Collect enough snacks to complete each round (This number goes up as you progress through the game). Make it to Round 32 to see the blandest and more boring of endings. Lose all life points to end the game.

Version 1.01 -- October 5th, 2024

  • Patched and updated the setup that handles drawing tiles and sprites.
  • Green Mushrooms (along with other snacks) should no longer spawn on top of the player.
  • Fixed a rare bug where the player would start off the level dead if they happen to hit a green mushroom while collecting the final snack needed to clear the level.

I must be an idiot... are you not supposed to use enter to click buttons on the main menu? I can swap between them with arrow keys but nothing happens when I press enter... or any other key that I've tried...
