Infaustus Fortuna
Our local adventurer stumbles upon The Village where he finds people in good health, but loaded with problems. People falling down wells? Dragons kidnapping women? You are the only person who can help save (or doom) them?! What sort of place is this?! Fortune is really throwing you a bad dice roll...
Infaustus Fortuna (latin for 'ominous fortune') is a multi-faceted game featuring platforming, rpg elements, inventory, exploration, a centralized town hub, NPCs to interact with (essential for advancing the story) and lots of 8-bit chiptune music. It is made in the style of a classic Game Boy game, though the player can choose from a number of different palettes.
Game saving is done automatically upon leaving a location (Using the Escape Scroll accomplishes the same thing).
Theme:
Unluckiness! Broken mirrors, bad dice rolls, walking under ladders, black cats crossing your path... the number 13! Every story starts with some unlucky event which the hero must overcome.

Locations:
- The Village
- A place to rest, recover, buy items and talk to people. Important plot elements are found here, so be sure to stop by after you complete an objective and talk to the townsfolk.
- Old Mines
- Long considered abandoned (due to being mined out), this place is ripe with critters and low-quality monsters. Hopefully no one is unlucky enough to end up stranded here unless they brought a sword and shield with them.
- Volcano
- Officially known as the Pardus Volcano (according to unused script), this place is filled with more dangerous monsters and much of the floor is covered with lava. Unless you can find some way to protect yourself from the lava, you will not last long. To make things worse, a dragon and its' spawn live there (according to unused script).
- Evil Castle
- While it used to be a place of exploration, the place is now infested with strong monsters and is haunted by the undead. Only the bravest of fools would dare go there.
- Rocky Shrine
- No one goes there. No one. It is rumored that this place is the tomb for the icon of misfortune, sealed away many moons ago. If something were to awaken it, the village would be destroyed. So yeah, stay away from that place, okay?

Love the Zelda 2 vibes! And the sword animation that reminds me of Stardew valley. Some of the hitboxes seem to be bugged which led me to cheese a lot of it, but I really enjoyed it! Impressive work!
Thank you. Once we get past the jam, I can look into those problems and see what I can fix. Always appreciate the feedback!
