Despite the successful rescue of Mrs. Kitty from the wily fox's lair (See the first game for more details), Mr. Kitty is kidnapped while traveling home. Mrs. Kitty, not knowing where they took him, returns home and finds her magic wand. Surprisingly, the wily fox also shows up. Feeling a bit guilty over what happened before, he tells Mrs. Kitty that Mr. Kitty was taken to Snappy the turtle's lair. Despite it being a dangerous place, Mrs. Kitty is brave and will stop at nothing to rescue her lover.

Explore a labyrinth subdivided into smaller sections. Find 33 upgrades and power-ups, collect the 3 special statues and open up the secret path to Snappy the turtle's lair.

The game includes the means to save your progress and quickly warp around the various locations in the map.

NOTICES:

  • There is no 'reversal' theme for this game. All attacks and abilities face the correct way, including 'bombs' and the 'dash' ability.
  • This game doubles as a prototype for my extended web oscillator player. I can do custom waveforms to sound like other low-end synth instruments. I can also make use of pitch changers, stereo support and I can change effects as a track channel is being played.
  • A map is available for download. This includes all the boss locations, item placements and hidden tunnels.

December 3rd, 2025 -- V.1.004

  • Updated text and signs related to the Toy Mouse (and it's power upgrade).
  • Fixed the flag for the red door guarding the first save station in the Earth Cave.
  • Changes made to the Mushou Battle (You can thank tbleazy for the direction/suggestions:
    • Base HP reduced from 260 to 240.
    • Barrier HP reduced from 210 to 140, each.
    • Fireball travels 30% slower.
    • A randomized delay has been added between when Mushou dives at the player.
    • A sound effect plays when Mushou fires a shot.
    • Barrier stays still upon being defeated and drops better pickups.
  • Changes made to the Peminook Battle:
    • Pitchfork travels 33% slower.
    • A sound effect plays when Peminook fires a shot.

November 30th, 2025 -- V.1.003

  • Removed a crawler type enemy from map 70. This one had no ground underneath it.
  • Wrong music was playing in room 40 (warp room #2). The proper music now plays when you enter the room.
  • The setup for secret blocks was not calling on the right palette colours for regular bones. This has been corrected.
  • Found a rare bug where a crawler may freeze up on the screen if the block underneath one has been destroyed.
  • An error in the math appeared in the warp room maps. Thanks iceninexp for spotting this.
  • An error in the minimap was found. Thanks iceninexp for spotting this.

November 29th, 2025 -- V.1.002

  • Downloadable map had a small bug where the door colour icons were mislabeled. Thanks to iceninexp for the catch.
  • Fixed some font shadow problems.
  • Updated the music and player to make way for the OST download.
  • 1.002 is using the CORRECT localstorage name for save files, again. That one was on me. The problem was I had the wrong name and my saves were on that one, so I kept switching. Looks like a switching was missed in a more recent build.

November 26th, 2025 -- V.1.001

  • Tile fixes to rooms 6, 26, 28, 29, 61, 70, 74, 78, 80, 88 and 100.
    • 88 was on the off chance a player could get through a narrow gap in the wall that can lead to a softlock.
    • 74 and 78 has made the hidden path there a bit more obvious.
  • Replaced 4 map tiles with destructible blocks. This mainly affected rooms 8 and 25 and a few others had one or two tiles that needed replacing.
  • Replaced a bone destructible with a normal destructible in room 8.
  • Room 41/43 door has been fixed; both sides now have a red hatch (Thanks to kkairos for spotting the one the led to me spotting the other).
  • Menu no longer crashes when pressing A/O while the diamond is along the bottom of the screen (Thanks to Redxplatinum).
  • Added a feature where shooting a special destructible block with a regular attack will reveal what is required to destroy it.
  • The updated oscillator player kept pushing our error messages on the dev console. Those have been silenced.
  • A downloadable map is now available.
  • A bug had been creating during the 1.001 phase where the theme in the starting room would not be updated and it would break the entire room. This has now been fixed (Thanks to redvelvetthetank for bringing this to my attention).

Is the visuals with those lines intentional?

Sorry, could you better describe what you are asking? I do not understand.

Umm.. How do you beat Bestest? Is there a specific upgrade I need? I have 15 bones, the mouse and an extended range default weapon.

(+1)

That 'should' be enough to get the job done.  He does start jumping a LOT faster as his health depletes.  Each bone does 20 dmg and I think his health is at 350.  If you got the Spread Shot upgrade before facing it, that will help with damage as well.  The mouse bombs do 4 damage a hit.

any tips for the 2nd boss ? im really struggling as im not sure what to do !

Which second boss? Both Mushou and Peminook can be played in either order.  One suggestion I will always have is: If you are having trouble, you may want to go around and collect more upgrades.  You can have everything but the last two statues before facing these bosses.

(1 edit)

pls help. I seem to need a purple bone, but can't find it anywhere. All possible routes are blocked by yellow doors, blocks that display purple ended bone, too much gap (top middle) or blocks that display some kinf of animal head similar to mouse, but different (top left).

Edit: not yellow, but purple bone on blocks

(1 edit)

nevermind, I found a suspicious wall between two yellow doors in the top bottom and behind them power mouse and spring coil.

correction: middle bottom.

Ah yes, you found the secret path.  In my latest patch, I tried to make it a 'little' more obvious there was something there.  You are on your way to winning!  :D

I'm past first try on the final boss. Could you please give me a hint for location of third powerup in second row (after twin ball)?

(1 edit)

That is the Spread Shot upgrade.  It adds 2 fireballs shooting in different directions.  That one is hidden near where you fought the first boss (about 2 rooms or so before you fight the boss).  It is hiding in a 1x2 room and you will need to shoot a right-facing wall to open up a path to it.

(1 edit)

Thanks. Finally beat the final boss. Just tanked all demage while using green bones then powermouse. Great game. Reminds me of Cave Story.

I'm missing some upgrades (96%). Finding them will be tough.

Unfortunately, despite trying both reloading from a checkpoint and restarting the game, I'm running into a bug. When I exit the cave with the bone and toy mouse , the game freezes partway through its transition. It does not load the outside again, and is totally unresponsive to any input.

The beginning is fun, so I hope I get to play the rest!

Are you referring to 'going outside', like back to where you started the game?

Curious when bug fixes break something else, huh. I wanted to fix a problem with the music in that room starting before the player goes into the cave, but instead, I break the whole room.  I saw the same crash, went back in, fixed the issue, played until I reached that room and it's working fine now.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Credit given (of course) and I hope to see you take another crack at this game! :)

The fix worked perfectly! Game is great. Now I just need to get past Mushou. Gotta learn the patterns, I guess, because I'm pretty sure I have every available upgrade (at 87% with all items on upgrade screen besides Mushou's statue)!

Yeah, I have heard of a couple 'comments' about the boss.  I actually nerfed the boss a while ago (It used to be harder).  Luckily, you can have everything but the statues by the time you reach it.  Perhaps having almost all the items will help?

finally a good game on this site ! been loads of crap recently but this is top tier , great work overall . many thanks

I don't really follow what other creators do much, mostly because I am making them rather than playing them. I appreciate the little bits of info I can get. :)

i lovee

Thank you! :D
